The Manteo House, known to locals as the Evans Family Homeplace, is comprised of original 1871 components such as wood flooring, doors, window facings, transoms, and stairwell, and its newer addition showcases custom Honduran mahogany throughout the extended wings. As you enter the house, whether from the front gate or wandering up from the bayfront, you’ll enter the main foyer.

Let your eyes wander for a moment as this area serves as the “hinge” of the house, combining the old materials and style with a more modern feel. In the foyer, you’ll notice the unique marble flooring outlined with imported mahogany baseboard and ceiling trim. Notice the tiger oak entryway hutch, as this is a family heirloom piece from the mid-1800s.

The Manteo House and detached apartment offer 6000sqft of interior space, including seven bedrooms, a den, a parlour, Formal dining, a breakfast nook, a 2nd-floor lounge area, four covered porches (one screened), all situated on an acre, bordered with a white picket fence.
